COVID Question Answering

In 2020, I collaborated with the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Thomson Reuters, and domain experts from leading institutions like Harvard, University of Chicago, and others to develop a question answering system for COVID related questions.

Specifically, I led the design and implementation of a system to help coordinate our team of engineers, researchers, and subject-matter experts to rapidly produce high-quality training data.

Why?

Lots and lots of papers. New norms around what was acceptable. Good source data: the CORD-19 corpora, thousands of papers related to COVID.

How?

It was obvious early in the collaboration we had a significant coordination problem.
